AM Best, headquartered in Oldwick, New Jersey, named James A. Gillard Jr. as president of A.M. Best Rating Services, Inc., succeeding Matthew C. Mosher. Mosher is retiring as president and CEO, effective at the end of the year.
Gillard most recently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of AMBRS. He joined AM Best in 2008 and spent nearly the past decade leading enhancements of AM Best’s rating methodology and rating tools.
Mosher joined AM Best in 1995 as a senior financial analyst and actuary. He became an officer of the company in 2000 when he moved to vice president of AMBRS’ specialty lines group in its property/casualty rating division. In 2019, Mosher assumed the role of president and CEO of AMBRS, overseeing the life/health, property/casualty, and international rating divisions.
Mosher assumes the role of executive director of AMBRS for the remainder of the year. He remains chair and/or CEO of AM Best’s other affiliates until further notice, i.e., A.M. Best Europe Rating Services Ltd.; A.M. Best Asia-Pacific Limited; A.M. Best Asia-Pacific (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.; A.M. Best (EU) Rating Services B.V.; A.M. Best América Latina S.A. de C.V.; AM Best Europe Information Services Limited.
