Everest Re Group has appointed Mike Mulray as executive vice president and president of North America Insurance, effective immediately.
Mulray will lead all aspects of North America, the Insurance division’s largest portfolio, and will report to Mike Karmilowicz, president and CEO of Everest Insurance.
Mulray, who has more than 25 years of insurance leadership experience, most recently served as global chief operating officer for Everest Insurance. Since joining Everest in 2015 as chief underwriting officer, he has played a critical role in shaping, scaling and transforming Everest’s Insurance strategy. He led several of the Insurance division’s key functional areas, including Actuarial Pricing & Modeling, Business Performance Management & Analytics, Corporate Underwriting, Risk & Ceded Reinsurance, Operations, and eIQ, Everest’s innovation team. Mulray is also a member of the Everest Executive Leadership Committee.

Sompo International announced the promotion of Margaret Hyland to president of North America Reinsurance.
Hyland takes over from Steven Hanke who, after almost 10 years with Sompo International Reinsurance, has accepted a position with a leading brokerage firm.
Hyland reports to Christopher Donelan, chief executive officer, Global Reinsurance, Sompo International Holdings Ltd., and is based in Garden City, N.Y.

Guidewire appointed Michael Howe as chief product officer, reporting to CEO Mike Rosenbaum. In this new role, Howe will lead product strategy, product management, product marketing and the Guidewire partner marketplace.
Howe has more than 30 years of experience in the enterprise software industry, with many years focused on the insurance industry. As chief product officer at Applied Systems, Howe led all product-related functions and oversaw a broad expansion of the Applied product portfolio, strengthening flagship products, launching new products, and driving growth in new market segments across the insurance agent and broker channel. Prior to Applied, he held leadership roles in both public and private equity-backed enterprise software companies.
