Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE announced that Tracy Ryan has joined its board of management as chief regions and markets officer for North America. She succeeds William Scaldaferri, who has decided to leave Allianz after 23 years.
Ryan was previously at Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, where she was a board member and president, Global Risk Solutions North America from 2020, having served in a variety of technical and leadership roles over nearly 30 years. Starting at Liberty Mutual as an actuary, she later led global account management teams and then the company’s commercial insurance product management unit, before becoming executive vice president and chief claims officer for Global Risk Solutions in North America in 2016.
Scaldaferri joined Allianz Risk Transfer, Allianz’s Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) business, in 1999, being appointed chief executive officer of the ART Group in 2009. He has been a member of the board of management of AGCS SE since 2012 and chief regions and markets officer for North America since 2016.
Ryan starts in AGCS’s New York office as of March 7, taking on Scaldaferri’s regional role as president and CEO of Allianz Global Risks US Insurance Company, AGCS’s primary North American carrier, with immediate effect and will join the AGCS SE board from April 1, subject to regulatory approvals.

Sompo International has named Nicolas Burnet as chief financial officer and member of the executive team, effective March 7. He reports to James Shea, CEO for Sompo International, and is based in Boston, Mass.
Burnet takes over from Michael McGuire, who has decided to step down from his role as CFO after 20 years with Sompo International.
Burnet comes to Sompo International from Partner Re, where he most recently served as CFO. Prior to that, he spent nearly 16 years with Zurich Insurance Group in various leadership positions, including group head of planning and performance management, CFO for General Insurance and Global Life CFO. He began his career in financial services with various companies including Neuberger Berman, JP Morgan and Price Waterhouse.

Greenlight Capital Re Ltd. has appointed Faramarz Romer as chief financial officer, effective April 1, 2023. Romer will succeed Neil Greenspan, who is leaving the company on March 31, 2023.
Romer has served as chief accounting officer and treasurer since 2020. Before that, he was a reporting and compliance officer and oversaw the company’s Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, periodic and annual financial reporting, internal audit and SOX 404 process. Prior to joining Greenlight, Romer was a senior manager at KPMG.

Mercury General Corporation has appointed Wilson Pang as chief technology officer to lead its technological transformation efforts.
As part of Mercury’s executive leadership team, Pang will develop and drive digital transformation strategies and will be responsible for overseeing the company’s software engineering and technology teams. Prior to joining Mercury Insurance, he served as chief technology officer at Appen, an industry leader in the AI data space. He also served in senior leadership roles at Trip.com group and eBay, where he led successful transformations through technology and data.
