Liberty Mutual Insurance announced the appointment of Meg Sutton as chief operating officer for Global Risk Solutions (GRS) North America and Taylor Archambault as senior vice president for US Casualty Claims.

Sutton will report to GRS Chief Operating Officer Susanne Figueredo Cook and GRS North America President Kevin Smith.

Sutton, who joined Liberty Mutual in 2015, formerly led the US Casualty team. She has more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions ranging from claims and operations to reinsurance and specialty insurance.

Archambault, who previously led the North America Property and Marine claims team, reports to GRS Chief Claims Officer Stephen Deane.

Before joining Liberty Mutual in 2019, Archambault held senior claims roles at The Hartford and worked as an attorney representing national insurers in complex litigation.

Insurance software company Earnix has appointed Robin Gilthorpe as its new chief executive officer, effective Feb. 1, 2023. He will take over the role from Udi Ziv, who served as the company’s CEO over the past six years.

Gilthorpe brings to the role over 25 years of experience as a successful business leader at companies such as TIBCO, Vertexone, Watersmart Software, DataSynapse and ESW Capital. In his most recent role at InsurTech platform Salty, he served as chief operating officer, generating a nine-figure outcome in sale to CDK Global, according to a press release.

Ziv joined Earnix in 2017 and has led the company to consistent growth, achieving Unicorn status and strategic alliances with Guidewire, USAA, MAPFRE, IAG, Liberty Mutual, US Bank, Lloyd’s Banking Group, and many more. He will serve as one of the industry experts on the Earnix board of directors.

Erel Margalit, Earnix’s chairman of the board, said that Gilthorpe’s “experience in building global, international companies, alongside the growing demand for Earnix’s suite of real-time, dynamic, composable Intelligent InsurOps solutions, will lead Earnix to significant growth over the next few years and bring Earnix to international market leadership.”

Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) promoted Senior Vice President of Claims Jane North to chief claims counsel. She is responsible for overseeing all litigated claims nationwide. In addition to supervising a claims team of over 400, she manages outside legal counsel and expenses.

Before joining PHLY, North served as a trial lawyer in Philadelphia for nearly 25 years. She is currently a board member of the Villanova Law Women’s Network and is on the advisory board for CityTeam Chester.

PHLY also promoted several team members to senior vice president:

John Bearman has 25 years in the insurance industry and started with PHLY in 2003 as an underwriter. He became regional underwriting manager in 2007 and assistant vice president in 2011. Since taking over as vice president of commercial lines underwriting for PHLY’s Midwest Territory in 2016, he’s helped that region grow in premium by 25 percent and led several company-wide initiatives around property and umbrella capacity management.

Ann Bronczyk has more than 38 years of claims experience, with most of those years in the professional liability claims area. She joined PHLY in 2002 as a claims supervisor and was promoted to assistant vice president in 2010. For the past eight years, she’s led PHLY’s management and professional liability claims team as vice president. Bronczyk has been responsible throughout her career for directors and officers/employment matters and nearly every professional liability line of business available from PHLY.

Michael Freeman takes over as SVP of Marketing in PHLY’s Western Territory, which covers 13 states from Colorado to California, including Hawaii and Alaska. Since joining PHLY in 2006, he’s held multiple leadership roles with the most recent being regional vice president of the Sunbelt Region.

John P. Kirby, a 35-year claims professional, joined PHLY in 2001 and was named vice president in 2014. He is responsible for all aspects of property claims, including claims management and litigation.

Julie Perkins joined PHLY in 2009 as a commercial lines underwriter in PHLY’s Central Region. After several underwriting roles, she was named VP of PHLY’s centralized underwriting unit in 2018. In this role, she oversees underwriting operations covering renewals, endorsements, policy administration and account management teams.
