MGU SageSure has appointed John Lummis as executive vice president of Capital and Risk Management.
Lummis brings more than 25 years of experience in senior executive, advisory and investment roles within the property/casualty industry, including his positions as CFO and COO of RenaissanceRe and CEO of AQR Capital Management.
In his new role, Lummis will focus on enhancing SageSure’s insurance risk management capabilities across carrier portfolios and optimizing capital structure and efficiency. He will also lead further investment in proprietary exposure management technology and risk analytics capabilities.
Lummis joins SageSure after serving on its advisory board. He is currently an advisor to Nyca, a fintech venture capital firm, and Pelican Ventures Group, an insurance-focused investment firm. He also serves on the board of Wyoming’s $10 billion public pension fund.

Everest Insurance, the Insurance division of Everest Re Group Ltd., has announced key appointments in its U.S. Wholesale division.
Casey Hartley has been named senior vice president and head of U.S. Wholesale Casualty. Prior to joining Everest in 2021, Hartley served a decade at Liberty Mutual, as well as in various roles at St. Paul Travelers.
Danielle Stewart has joined the company in the newly created role of vice president and national head of Wholesale Distribution. Stewart joined Everest from Liberty Mutual, most recently as director of business strategy. She will be based in Los Angeles.

Specialty insurer R&Q Insurance Holdings Ltd announced the appointment of Hillary Jarvis as chief claims officer for North America. She will report to Andrew Pinkes, global chief executive officer, Legacy Insurance.
Jarvis brings over 20 years of experience and was most recently managing director, Claims – Compliance and Strategy at Markel, where she led a team of 60 responsible for claims compliance, business intelligence, innovation and strategic planning functions. Prior to that, she was general counselor, second vice president to the Travelers’ largest claims center. She started her career practicing law at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and was of counsel at Steptoe & Johnson.
