InsurTech Pie Insurance has appointed new senior leadership team members:
David Samuels has been named chief commercial officer. He joins Pie after nearly a decade at SAP/Concur, where he most recently held the position of chief customer officer. As Pie’s first chief commercial officer, Samuels is responsible for setting Pie’s operational strategy and overseeing all premiums generated from insurance agents and brokers.
Dimitrius King has been named first chief claims officer. He joins Pie from Liberty Mutual, where he was a vice president of the workers compensation division.
Kelly North is now vice president of Business Development, overseeing the team responsible for growing and maturing the company’s insurance agency channel. Prior to Pie, she spent two years at Beam Dental as the company’s vice president of business development.
Jen Straus has been appointed the first vice president of People Operations. She is responsible for Pie’s compensation, benefits, people operations and analytics, as well as learning and development. She joins the company with a wealth of people operations experience at startups, including Kabbage and Alteryx.

Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd. announced the appointments of Devon Minarik as head of U.S. Small Business Casualty Insurance and Logan Kirkland as head of U.S. Products Liability & Contractors Insurance at Hamilton Select Insurance Inc., Hamilton’s newly-launched E&S insurer.
Reporting to Hamilton Select Insurance Inc. CEO Clay Rhoades, Minarik and Kirkland are based in Hamilton’s new Richmond, Va. office.
Minarik most recently served as vice president at AmWINS Group Inc., after spending over a decade with Burns & Wilcox in increasingly senior roles, ultimately serving as managing director.
Kirkland was most recently an underwriting specialist at James River Insurance Company, handling large, complex, national products and construction accounts. Before that, he was a property underwriter and P/C broker at Continental Underwriters Inc.

A.I.M. Mutual Insurance Companies has elected Daniel A. Landers as president and chief executive officer, effective May 1, 2022.
He succeeds Michael E. Standing, who passed away in October.
Landers brings more than 30 years of workers compensation insurance experience to the role. Previously, he had been VP and chief operating officer for A.I.M. Mutual, responsible for workers compensation insurance operations, agency management and strategic planning. In addition, he has held positions as VP of Sales & Marketing, director of Field Operations, director of Marketing and regional manager. Prior to joining A.I.M. Mutual in 2002, he worked at EBI Companies as branch manager and for The Hartford Insurance Company in its loss control operation.
