Arch Capital Group will partner with a non-profit dedicated to boosting the number of women in insurance technology positions.
The Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer said it would link up with Women Who Code (WWCode) to fund more than 500 scholarships and help improve the online experience of WWCode’s in-person program.
Women Who Code (WWCode) is an international nonprofit dedicated to inspiring women to excel in technology careers. The group has more than 250,000 members in 122 countries and has produced more than 14,000 free events around the world, according to the announcement.
“We strongly believe that Women Who Code’s mission of inspiring women to excel in technology careers is critical for the long-term success of the insurance industry,” Prashant Nema, Chief Information Officer for Arch Capital Services LLC, said in prepared remarks. “Our hope is that through our partnership, we can increase the overall number of women in IT roles at Arch and ensure more balanced representation for women in leadership roles.”
WWCode CEO and Board Chari Alaina Percival said Arch’s support is particularly important now, after a year of the coronavirus pandemic where women were “disproportionately impacted.”
“By working together we can ensure that progress we have made in our vital mission is not lost,” Percival said.
