AXIS hired four new underwriters for its U.S. Management Liability team. Chubb named a new chief underwriting officer for its International Accident & Health unit. Kemper Corp.’s board of directors elected chose a former USAA CEO as a director.

AXIS Insurance, the specialty insurance arm of AXIS Capital Holdings Lt., hired four new underwriters for its U.S. Management Liability team.

Christina Segreti, Drew Kushnick, Matthew Holzinger and Sherry Alexakis have joined AXIS as Senior Underwriters. Their mission: to help support the Company’s profitable growth in the Management Liability market.

Segreti will work across Management Liability lines, including public and private Directors and Officers Liability (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary Liability and Crime coverages. She was most recently a Broker for Property & Casualty lines at Gallagher. Before that, Segreti focused on Management Liability insurance products as a Client Service Associate at Marsh & McLennan and as a Financial Products Underwriter at Great American Insurance.

Kushnick’s work will also span across Management Liability lines, including public and private D&O, EPL, Fiduciary Liability and Crime coverages. Before AXIS, he was a Senior Underwriter at Chubb Insurance, evaluating and underwriting professional liability lines for private companies and large-scale nonprofits. He began his career in insurance at Chubb as a Financial Lines Underwriter. Previously he held positions of Regulatory Compliance Attorney at Interbank Mortgage Company, and Wealth Strategies Analyst at Bank of America Private Bank.

Holzinger will work closely with AXIS’ Private Equity product team and will focus on underwriting insurance products for private equity and venture capital firms as well as private equity-backed public and private portfolio company investments. He joins AXIS from Starr Companies where he was a Financial Institutions Underwriter. He began his career as a Wealth Management Associate at Merrill Lynch before transitioning into specialty insurance.

Alexakis will focus on Commercial Crime underwriting. She joins AXIS from Chubb Insurance where she was a Senior Management Liability Underwriter. Alexakis brings 15 years’ experience assessing private and non-profit companies for D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime and other related insurance coverages. She started her career at Chubb working as a Claims Adjuster negotiating personal property claims before transitioning into various underwriting roles.

Alexandra Tucker also recently joined AXIS as an Underwriter for middle market private company Management Liability products, for both wholesale and retail distribution.

Chubb named Jason Luyt Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer, International Accident & Health (IAH).

Currently, Luyt serves as Chief Underwriter for the division’s leisure travel and direct market business. In his new role, Luyt will have direct responsibility for all IAH underwriting functions, including underwriting governance and controls, product development, and learning and development, across all business segments for the division’s A&H operations in 51 countries and territories outside North America.

Luyt will continue to report to John Thompson, Division President, International Accident & Health, Overseas General Insurance. The appointment is effective January 1, 2021. Luyt succeeds Deborah Venella, who will retire in early 2021 after a 47-year career at Chubb and predecessor companies.

Luyt joined the company in 2015 as Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer of Leisure Travel & Direct Market Underwriting. Before joining Chubb, he held local, regional and global management-levels positions at American International Group, including Global A&H Underwriting Manager in New York, Regional A&H Underwriting Manager for Africa, and Head of A&H in South Africa.

Kemper Corp.’s board of directors elected elected former USAA CEO Stuart Parker as a director.

Stuart Parker

Parker served as Chief Executive Officer for USAA from 2015 until his retirement in February 2020. He spent more than 21 years with USAA in roles including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, President of the Property & Casualty Insurance Group, and President of Financial Planning Services.

Parker will be a member of the board’s Audit Committee, and his appointment expands the board to 11 directors, nine of whom are independent.
