The insurance industry has gotten a bad rap over the past year, but it’s time to show who we really are.
With uncovered pandemic-related business interruptions capturing headlines about property/casualty insurance in 2020, you don’t have to look far to see words like “uncaring” and “profit-hungry” as descriptors for this industry.
Do you ever read those articles and think, “I don’t work in that industry. I work with human beings who care, led by executives who care”?
What are some of the issues in our world that you feel passionately about?
Racism. The environment. Covering pandemics. Distracted driving. Opioid addiction. Wealth inequality. The future of jobs. Ageism. Gun violence. …The list goes on.
Throughout 2021, we intend to publish a series of viewpoint articles titled “What I Care About.” We’re extending an invitation to our readers, particularly those in leadership and management positions of property/casualty insurance carriers, reinsurers and InsurTechs, to be part of the series.
What do you care about? Why? How has your life been touched by the issue? Why should your peers care about it as well? What steps have you personally taken or has your company taken to address the issue? What recommendations do you have for other property/casualty insurers? What more can we do to remedy the problem that you care about?
One way to participate is to submit a full-length viewpoint article (1,000 words or more) describing the issue that you’re passionate about and framing it for industry peers. For those who aren’t inclined to write a full article, let us know what’s on your mind and we can set up some time for a Q&A written by Carrier Management’s reporters.
Send articles and ideas for submissions to Carrier Management Executive Editor Susanne Sclafane at ssclafane@carriermanagement.com
