Everest Re Group promoted Michael Karmilowicz to be the new president and CEO of its Everest Insurance division, three months after its previous leader jumped ship to lead rival Ascot Group.
Jonathan Zaffino left Everest in April to join Ascot, a Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer.
Karmilowicz has been with Everest Insurance since July 2015, and most recently served as Executive Vice President and President of North America P&C. Karmilowicz has nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, having worked in various management and underwriting positions at carriers including Zurich and The Hartford.
Along with Karmilowicz’s appointment, Michael Mulray being named the Everest Insurance Division Chief Operating Officer.
Mulray joined Everest Insurance in May 2015 as Chief Underwriting Officer, a position he has held since that time. Before joining Everest, Mulray worked at General Electric Company, where he spent a decade in a variety of risk and insurance leadership positions. Mulray began his career in insurance over 20 years ago with Aon, serving in a variety of roles in both the US and Bermuda markets.

Bermuda-based Everest Re Group provides reinsurance and insurance through subsidiaries in the U.S., Europe, Singapore, Canada, Bermuda and other territories.
Everest Re Group is scheduled to release its 2020 second quarter results on Aug. 5, 2020
