On Friday, Bermuda-based Sompo International Holdings Ltd. announced that Christopher Donelan will become the next chief executive of Sompo International Reinsurance.
Donelan is currently the Deputy CEO for the reinsurance business of Sompo International (SI), which represents roughly $2.4 billion of annual gross written premiums.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

Donelan will replace Stephen Young, who resigned to pursue other interests after a 17-year tenure with the company.
In his new role, Donelan will report to Christopher Gallagher CEO of SI’s Commercial P/C business.
Before joining Sompo International in 2013, Donelan held senior reinsurance leadership roles at leading P/C companies and has over 30 years of industry experience.
He holds an MBA in Insurance and Risk Management from St. John’s University and holds both the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Reinsurance designations.
