Munich Re America appointed a new chief operations officer for its Reinsurance division. Willis Towers Watson has a new director of Corporate Risk and Broking. Great American Insurance Group hired two new divisional directors within the Fidelity/Crime Division.

Munich Re America appointed Anita Kuchma as chief operations officer (COO) of the Reinsurance Division.

Kuchma will report directly to Steve Levy, president and CEO of the Reinsurance Division, Munich Reinsurance America Inc., and will be a member of the Reinsurance Division’s Executive Leadership Team.

Since joining Munich Re, Kuchma has held various multiline underwriting positions including several management positions in which she was responsible for the underwriting and management of large portfolios of business. In the past, she has also served as deputy chief financial officer and head of Planning and Controlling, responsible for leading the planning, forecasting, budget and financial analysis units. In 2019, she joined the Reinsurance division to lead the Professional Liability and Cyber team.

Joseph Hurley is Willis Towers Watson’s new director of Corporate Risk and Broking.

To be based in San Francisco, Calif., Hurley will be joining the company’s Silicon Valley Tech Center of Excellence, where he will lead Willis Towers Watson’s platform for the Marketplace, Sharing and Gig Economy.

Previously, Hurley was a senior manager for Risk Solutions at the ridesharing company Lyft. Before Lyft, Hurley was a risk manager at PG&E Corp. and a casualty adviser at Marsh.

Great American Insurance Group hired Matthew Brown and Joseph Szary as divisional directors within the Fidelity/Crime Division.

Brown has 16 years of industry experience with the majority focused on fidelity and crime. In his role as divisional director, Brown will focus on underwriting mercantile and financial institutions and will act as a liaison to a number of major brokers.

Szary has over 21 years of legal experience, primarily focused on fidelity coverage. In his role as divisional director of Claims, Szary will focus on crime, kidnap & ransom, and fine art claims, and serve as an internal resource on all industry-related matters.
