A Swiss Re veteran is joining AXIS Capital Holdings’ AXIS Re to lead its North America division. Marsh created a new position in the aviation practice of its Marsh JLT Specialty arm.

AXIS Re named Swiss Re veteran Jason Busti as president of its North America division.
In this role, Busti will oversee AXIS Re’s North America treaty reinsurance business, which includes the United States, Bermuda and Canadian markets. Busti will be a member of the Reinsurance Leadership team and will report to AXIS Re CEO Steve Arora. He will be based in New York.
Busti joins AXIS Re from Swiss Re, where he spent 22 years in a variety of underwriting and sales management positions. Most recently, he was Managing Director and Client Executive, with responsibility for the company’s U.S. Globals business. Before that, Busti was a senior vice oresident, where he led a global, cross-functional team of 250 people. He also served as Head of Casualty Underwriting for the regional segment in the U.S.
AXIS Re also announced today that Roman Romeo has assumed the role of Head of Property Bermuda.

Marsh appointed Michael Tarling as Senior Adviser in the Aviation Practice of Marsh JLT Specialty.
In this newly created role, Tarling will deliver senior client engagement and risk advisory services to Marsh JLT Specialty’s aviation clients globally. Based in Chicago, Tarling reports to Garrett Hanrahan, US Aviation Practice Leader, Marsh JLT Specialty.
Tarling, who was previously employed by Marsh from 2005-2011, has worked in the insurance industry for over four decades, specializing in aviation and aerospace insurance, risk management, and claims. Most recently, he was assistant treasurer, Risk Management and Insurance, at The Boeing Company, a position he held for eight years.
