AIG hired a former pharmaceutical company executive to be its new Chief Human Resources Officer. Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, a former British cyber intelligence officer to the newly created role of chief cyber officer. Alliant hired a White Plains-based executive to be a senior vice president for its New York team.

American International Group hired a former pharmaceutical company executive to be its new Chief Human Resources Officer.

Karen Ling will also carry the title of executive vice president, and takes on her new role at AIG starting July 29, 2019. She’ll be based in New York, join the insurer’s executive leadership team and report to AIG President and CEO Brian Duperreault.

Ling, in her new role, will lead AIG’s global human resources department with a focus on aligning AIG’s talent strategy with the company’s long-term strategic, operational and financial objectives. In this role, Ling will oversee all aspects of human capital management, including talent acquisition, training, development, compensation and benefits, and diversity and inclusion.

Ling joins AIG from Allergan plc, where for the past five years she served as executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer. In this capacity, she developed and oversaw a global HR strategy during a period of transition that included successfully launching new company-wide HR resources and cultural initiatives. Ling also served in executive human resources-related positions at Merck & Co., Inc.’s Global Human Health and Consumer Care businesses and at Schering-Plough

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, appointed Jon Rigby to the newly created role of chief cyber officer.

Rigby will report to Peter Smith, executive underwriting officer and be based in London.

In his new position, Rigby will drive the LSM Cyber “Centre of Excellence,” interfacing with LSM’s insurance and reinsurance underwriting functions led by Matthew Hogg (head of Cyber Insurance) and Ivonne Staisch (head of Cyber Reinsurance).

Rigby served for 33 years in the Royal Air Force in cyber, intelligence, IT and engineering roles. His last military role was in the rank of Air Vice-Marshal within Joint Forces Command, where his responsibilities included leadership of the Ministry of Defence’s cyber operations and programs. Before joining LSM he co-led AlixPartners’ cyber-security team, working predominantly with private equity and FTSE 100 executive teams to help them manage their cyber-security risk.

Alliant hired a White Plains-based executive to be a senior vice president for its New York team.

Thomas Clark, a longtime property and casualty expert, will be tasked with providing tailored risk and insurance products and services to a diverse client base throughout the Northeast region.

Clark is a longtime veteran of the insurance industry. Throughout his extensive career, he has worked with clients spanning a breadth of industries and disciplines, ranging in size from regional businesses to large corporations.

Before Alliant, Clark was executive vice president with a multinational insurance and consulting firm focusing on the Northeast region.
