American International Group hired an executive to fill the new position of Global Head of Shared Services. AIG’s Blackboard Insurance hired someone to be its new head of Growth and Underwriting.

American International Group, Inc. hired Shane Fitzsimons as its Global Head of Shared Services, effective July 1.
Fitzsimons will be based in New York and report to Peter Zaffino, AIG’s Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance.
The Global Head of Shared Services is a newly created role at AIG designed to establish a single point of accountability for key operational and financial capabilities provided by businesses and functions across the organization. Fitzsimons will be responsible for developing and implementing a global strategy within AIG’s Shared Services designed to create a cost-effective, scalable infrastructure that leverages technology and innovation.
Previously, Fitzsimons was at TATA Group, where he led efforts to create synergies across the Group’s diverse set of businesses. Fitzsimons joined TATA Group from GE, where he spent over 20 years in operational and financial roles across the United States, Asia and Europe. These roles included Global Head of Shared Services, Chief Financial Officer for all international operations and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis across the company.

Blackboard Insurance, an American International Group company, announced that John Mizzi will join the team as head of Growth and Underwriting.
Mizzi will lead the underwriting team as Blackboard expands its use of data, analytics and technology to serve the needs of insureds and broker partners in the middle market of commercial insurance.
Mizzi joins Blackboard from CNA, where he has led commercial field operations since 2016. He previously had a 25-year career at Chubb, where he most recently served as senior vice president and Eastern territory field underwriting officer.
Mizzi succeeds Ed Pulkstenis, who will take on a newly created role at Blackboard, head of Machine Augmented Solutions. Pulkstenis will be working on designing the “optimal interaction between the human and machine,” according to the announcement.
Blackboard Insurance writes property, auto, general liability and umbrella liability for companies in the manufacturing, real estate, wholesale, retail and services industries with annual sales up to $500 million.
