New York-based online insurance marketplace Policygenius announced Tuesday that it is expanding from life and disability insurance to offer home and auto as well.
Licensed nationwide, Policygenius combines digital tools with personal support from licensed advisers to make shopping for home and auto insurance as easy as possible. It runs quotes from multiple companies so shoppers can compare and, ultimately, save on these core insurance products.
Policygenius provides personalized home and auto insurance rates, not just estimates, the company said in a statement. The licensed advisers at Policygenius are salaried, not commissioned.
In addition to announcing the launch, Policygenius also announced results of a survey of more than 1,500 adults finding that one in three Americans have never re-shopped their home or auto insurance. Not having enough time to do so (32 percent) or simple never thinking about re-shopping were key reasons non-shoppers provided. In addition, 16 percent of those who’ve never re-shopped said they didn’t want the paperwork hassle.
Addressing those respondents, Policygenius noted that the company handles new policy paperwork and cancellation of a consumer’s old policy.
“If you aren’t shopping your insurance policies, you could be leaving money on the table,” said Jennifer Fitzgerald, CEO and co-founder of Policygenius. “We’ve made it easier than ever for people to get a new or updated policy and receive unbiased guidance. This way, people can get the coverage they need and get back to their busy lives.” she said.
