Alliant hired a Willis Towers Watson veteran as Senior Vice President. The Insurance Information Institute hired a new Vice President and Senior Economist, who will handle areas including research, communications and education outreach.

William (Bill) Callahan has joined Alliant as Senior Vice President. The New York-based insurance veteran will be charged with providing a full range of insurance and risk management products and services to a diverse portfolio of clients.

Callahan is a 30-year insurance veteran known for designing and delivering customized risk and insurance products and services that reduce liability, cut costs, and provide long-term strategic advantages to organizations, Alliant said. Throughout career, he has worked with a diverse range of clients with regional, national, and global operations.

Prior to joining Alliant, Callahan was Senior Vice President within the New York office of Willis Towers Watson, according to his LinkedIn account.

Alliant, based in California, provides property and casualty, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, surety, and financial products and services to clients nationwide.

Michel Léonard has been appointed Vice President & Senior Economist at the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.), He will have responsibilities in areas including research, communications, and education outreach.

Léonard is an economist and data scientist with 20 years of experience in senior-level insurance and finance positions. He has hands-on experience across the insurance value-chain, from generating risk analytics to communicating risk outlooks, the I.I.I. said. A thought leader in applied risk quantification, a subject on which he has been published widely, Léonard also is a frequent media commentator and speaker at insurance industry events.

Previously, Léonard was Partner & Chief Data Scientist at MaKro LLC, a Fintech risk advisor. Earlier in his career, Léonard was the Senior Vice President & Chief Economist at Aon and the Chief Economist & Data Scientist at Alliant, the insurance broker owned by Blackstone and Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts (KKR).

Based in the I.I.I.’s New York City office, Léonard will report to Steven Weisbart, the I.I.I.’s Senior Vice President & Chief Economist.
