American Family Insurance co-led the $8 million Series A financing round for TicketGuardian, an InsurTech startup that helps insure concert and event organizers, as well as customers who buy tickets to their events.
The Wisconsin-based property/casualty insurer made the investment through its American Family Ventures Unit. IA Capital Group was the other primary investor.
TicketGuardian, a California-based company, markets technology, products and services to event organizers, ticketing platforms, and also attendees and fans. To date, it has raised $13 million. Plans call for using the new financing to fuel growth of the company, its services and customer base, CEO and founder Bryan Derbyshire said in prepared remarks.
TicketGuardian pitches itself as a company that provides real-time data and analytics that helps govern control over inventory, customer service, strategic marketing and “the fan experience.” Its insurance focus helps, in part, give attendees the ability to insure their purchased ticket, registration or booking through its FanShield product. The company also insures music, sports, endurance and other conference events with its RegShield, TourShield and EventShield products.
TicketGuardian now has 40 employees, and it has partnered with platforms including Provenue, Accesso Showare, Showclix, events.com and others.
