AXIS Re launched a new consulting arm to serve clients and brokers, hiring on a former Munich Re executive and promoting within to staff the division.
The new arm – AXIS Re Strategic Partners – starts initially with three strategic account executives focused on Europe, the Middle East and Africa for select European clients. Additional appointments to the Strategic Partners team will follow for North America and Asia.
AXIS Re’s initial three Strategic Partners appointments will be based in Zurich. They are:
- Herndon Stokes, who joins AXIS Re after 13 years with Munich Re. His most recent job there was as the Munich-based executive manager, global accounts, where he led global account management activities for multinational P/C reinsurance clients.
- Simon Stirnemann, a 13-year AXIS Re veteran who most recently served as senior casualty underwriter in Singapore, where he established AXIS Re’s casualty business in Asia. Previously, Stirnemann held a variety of roles based in Zurich.
- Juan Manuel Martín Leon, a nine-year AXIS Re veteran, who is currently serving as senior underwriter, property. He will expand his role to include strategic account executive responsibilities.
AXIS Re Strategic Partners is part of the organization’s Global Markets division, led by Interim President Rob Smart. AXIS Re itself is a unit of AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd., which provides reinsurance to global companies in areas including catastrophe, property, professional lines, credit and surety, motor, general liability, engineering, marine, workers compensation, agriculture, and accident and health.
