AXIS Insurance promoted one of its executives to lead its business in Canada. Also in Canada, Zurich Insurance appointed a 25-year veteran of the travel insurance industry to lead its travel business.

AXIS Insurance promoted Brad Randell to head of Canada Insurance and chief agent, Canada.
Subject to review and/or approval of Canadian regulators, Randell will oversee AXIS’ insurance business in Canada and will report directly to John Van Decker, president, North American Professional Lines for AXIS Insurance. The company is a business segment of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited.
Randell joined AXIS in 2008 and has served in several senior underwriting roles within the company’s Canada insurance business, most recently as senior vice president and Professional Lines unit leader, Canada. Before joining AXIS, Randell held various underwriting roles at Liberty International Underwriters and at Royal Sun Alliance.

Zurich Canada appointed John Thain, a 25-year veteran of the travel insurance industry, as vice president, Travel, Accident & Sickness.
Thain will be responsible for launching personal leisure travel, business travel accident, and supporting accident and sickness products in Canada. He is based in Toronto and reports to Greg Irvine, head of Specialty Products for Canada. Zurich Canada expects to begin selling personal travel products by the start of 2019.
Before joining Zurich, Thain held numerous roles as an independent consultant, underwriter and program administrator. At Assurant Canada, he was responsible for the strategic direction of a portfolio of inclusive credit card and related voluntary insurance products in Canada.
