Markel has a new person to leads the U.S Excess Casualty team of Markel Global Insurance. Marsh brought on an executive to run Marsh Sponsored Programs, a provider of insurance products for associations, franchises and other business networks.

A veteran of Ironshore and other insurers is joining a division of Markel in a leadership role.
John Ferguson is the new director of the New York-based U.S. Excess Casualty team of Markel Global Insurance.
In his new role, Ferguson will be the retail construction practice lead and handle a range of underwriting and relationship management functions.
Most recently, Ferguson was the casualty manager for the Northeast for Ironshore. He has also served as senior underwriter for AIG within American Home Insurance, and began his insurance career in claims with E.r. Quinn Company.
Ferguson is based in Markel’s midtown Manhattan office.

Michael Westwood joined Marsh as president of Marsh Sponsored Programs, a provider of insurance products for associations, franchises and other business networks.
Westwood will be tasked with growing Marsh Sponsored Programs’ U.S. business through client engagement and product innovation.
He has 20 years of experience and expertise in strategy and operations in the affinity sector. Previously, he was with Aon Affinity, where he was executive vice president, Operations.
Westwood will be based in New York and report to Marsh Insurance Services Group President Kevin Tobin, who had been leading Marsh Sponsored Programs on an interim basis.
