Chubb promoted an executive in its North American Insurance arm. AXIS Insurance is bringing on a former Zurich executive who will help expand its data/analytics capabilities. JLT Re named a new executive who will help develop and grow its Midwest operations. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance hired a new executive focused on Surety Claims.

Gerard “Jerry” Butler is now senior vice president, Chubb Group, division president, North American Insurance.
In his new role, Butler will oversee field organization in North America, including 48 offices in the
United States and Canada. Also, he’ll be responsible for executing Chubb’s North American business strategies locally by developing capabilities and services to the company’s agent and broker distribution partners, and managing these important long-term relationships.
Butler has more than 34 years of insurance industry experience, including 24 years at Chubb, most recently as chief operating officer, North America Field Operations. Before ACE’s acquisition of the old Chubb in January 2016, he was executive vice president and U.S. Field Territory Operations Manager for Chubb.
Butler will report to John Lupica, vice chairman Chubb Group and president, North America Major Accounts and Specialty Insurance. He replaces Harold Morrison, who will retire at the end of 2017 after 33 years in the insurance industry.

An executive formerly with Zurich North America is joining AXIS Insurance to help expand its data and analytics capabilities.
Meghan Anzelc is taking on the newly-created position of vice president, Data and Analytics at AXIS, a division of AXIS Capital holdings.
Previously, Anzelc was vice president, leading Data Scientist for Zurich North America. While there, she managed a team of 40 data scientists who handled integration of predictive analytics across Zurich’s underwriting and claims functions. Before Zurich, she held actuarial and analytics roles at CNA and Travelers.
AXIS Capital Holdings is a Bermuda-based provider of specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance.

JLT Re (North America) appointed John Paulsen as senior vice president in Chicago.
Most recently, Paulsen was at Guy Carpenter, where he was senior vice president and focused on the regional mutual sector for more than 8 years. Before that he worked at Aon Benfield.
In his new job, Paulsen will focus on the continued expansion and development of JLT Re’s regional and national global practices in the Midwest.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance hired Kelly Perry as AVP, head of Surety Claims.
Perry has 20 years of experience in surety claims, most recently as Surety Claims Manager, Philadelphia Insurance Companies, in Alpharetta, GA. She was also a Senior Bond Claim Counsel for 18 years at Travelers Bond and Specialty Insurance.
Previously, Perry was an attorney in private practice, specializing in commercial and construction litigation and surety law.
Perry will be based in BHSI’s Atlanta office.
