Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance rolled out its new Employment Practices Liability policy in Canada – part of a series of policies it offers there for executives. Chubb created a product cluster in UK and Ireland, which will bring together its life science, info tech, package and entertainment industry segments.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has unveiled its new Employment Practices Liability policy in Canada, representing an expansion of its Executive First policy offerings in the country.

The policy is designed to protect companies from employment practices claims including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and failure to employ or promote. An added endorsement is design to address “pay in lieu of notice” damages.

BHSI said the new policy articulates coverages for the latest exposures employers face, including those stemming from genetic information, military status, sexual orientation or preference and improper internet activity. Coverage extends to sexual or workplace harassment of any kind and to allegations by employees, plus third parties such as customers.

Limits of up to $25 million are available. BHSI’s Executive First coverages include D&O Liability insurance, Side A DIC Liability insurance, and Fiduciary Liability Insurance.

Chubb said it has created a “Custom Industry Solutions” product cluster in UK and Ireland, which will bring together its life science, info tech, package and entertainment industry segments.

This new product cluster is designed to meet the evolving needs of brokers and customers in the UK and Ireland and further build Chubb’s presence in the middle market, said the company, noting that Karen Strong, who previously was tech manager, UK and Ireland, will head the team.

Strong will bring together the company’s dedicated solutions in these areas and work “with her colleagues and other product heads to align expertise with market needs,” the company said in a statement.

She will continue to be based in London and will report to Sara Mitchell, head of Corporate Division, UK and Ireland.
