XL Catlin promoted an executive who will lead its Global Risk Management division in the insurer’s North Central region. W.R. Berkley’s board nominated a new director to stand for election at the company’s May annual meeting, an accomplished executive who will replace a director who is retiring.

XL Catlin promoted Angie Strack to the position of senior vice president and underwriting manager for its Global Risk Management division’s North Central region.
In her new role, Strack will manage and develop XL Catlin’s U.S. risk management business, customizing casualty programs including workers compensation, general liability and commercial auto insurance coverages. This will cover clients in the U.S.’s North Central region including greater-Chicago and the upper Midwest.
Strack has been with XL Catlin since 2011, and joined with more than 17 years of underwriting and broker management experience, including a decade of casualty underwriting at Zurich.

W.R. Berkley Corp.’s Board of Directors nominated Maria Luisa Ferré to stand for election as a new director. She’ll do so at the company’s annual shareholder meeting on May 16, 2017.
Ferré is slated to replace George Daly, who served on the board of directors since 1998, and is expected to retire at that time.
Ferré heads the Ferré Rangel Group and is editor of GFR Media, where she oversees the operations of the Ferré Rangel Group and its portfolio of media companies. She’s been a member of the Board of Directors of Popular, Inc., the parent company of Banco Popular, since 2000. As well, Ferré is also president of the Board of Directors of the Ponce Museum of Art, and is on the Board of Directors of the Caribbean and Latin America Fund of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
