InsurTech startup Slice Labs rolled out its first on-demand insurance product for homeshare hosts participating in platforms such as Airbnb, HomeAway, OneFineStay and FlipKey.
Homeshare hosts renting their homes on various homeshare platforms are Slice’s target customers. The on-demand commercial insurance policy can be purchased via app or online. It covers the time period hosts rent their home, whether it is a day, a week, or another timeframe.
Slice’s homeshare cover qualifies as primary insurance, and has a commercial liability coverage limit of $2 milion. It also features full replacement cost coverage for the home, other structures and contents and no limit to the number of covered properties. Policyholders can manage coverage, claims and notifications in the app.
Slice gained its initial funding earlier in 2016. Its backers include Horizons Ventures, XL Innovate (part of XL Catlin) and Munich Re.

Zurich Insurance is now offering multiline coverage for mid-sized energy companies.
The new plan, dubbed the Zurich Energy Multiline Solution, combines onshore property, casualty umbrella and inland marine coverages. It is available for qualified energy companies including onshore/offshore contractors; oil lease operators; coal and mineral mining operators; petrochemical manufacturers; utilities; bio fuel operations; oil, gas, mining and utility equipment manufacturers; and alternative energy.
Plans call for launching the coverage initially in Texas, by way of Zurich Select Brokers. Eventually, the cover will be expanded nationally.
