Lloyd’s of London is hiring a former longtime RSA executive. Sompo Canopius Re named a new head of operations in Continental Europe. PartnerRe is bringing on a former Willis Re executive to be its new head of Asia-Pacific.

A major executive from RSA is joining Lloyd’s of London.

Jon Hancock has been appointed the new director, Performance Management at Lloyd’s and will take on that role beginning Dec. 1. He comes to Lloyd’s from RSA, where he has been managing director, U.K. Commercial and Global Relationship director since 2011.

Hancock spent his entire career with RSA, starting as a Marine underwriter in 1990 in their Liverpool office. From there he held various leadership positions before becoming chief executive officer for Asia and the Middle East before, which preceded his present RSA role.

Sompo Canopius Re appointed Thierry Pelgrin as head of Continental Europe. He takes on the new position beginning Nov. 1, and will report to Chief Underwriting Officer Jamie Wakeling.

Previously, Pelgrin was at Everest Re Zurich, where he was director and member of the strategic committee for new business development.

In his new position, Pelgrin will be tasked with developing Sompo Canopius Re’s existing property, casualty and marine treaty reinsurance business in Continental Europe. He’ll lead the Zurich-based underwriting team and work closely with the London team.

PartnerRe has hired a former Willis Re executive to be its new head of Asia-Pacific and CEO of Partner Reinsurance Asia Pte. Ltd.

James Beedle will take on his new role beginning Jan. 1, 2017, replacing Alain Flandrin, who plans to leave the company after a short transition period to purse other personal and professional interests.

In his new role, Beedle will lead development of PartnerRe’s business in Asia-Pacific, guide responses to client needs and advance strategic goals. He’ll report to Tad Walker, CEO of PartnerRe’s Property and Casualty segment and Group Executive Committee member.

Previously, Beedle was senior managing director of Willis Re Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He’ll be based there in his new role.
