TigerRisk Partners is tapping a former Swiss Re executive to help shape and grow its insurance-linked securities business.
Philipp Kusche has been appointed partner and global head of ILS and capital solutions for the Connecticut-based insurance broking and risk/capital management firm.
TigerRisk is touting the fact that he was previously with Swiss Re Capital Markets in New York, as head of ILS structuring and organization. While there, he oversaw creation and execution of billions of dollars in cat bonds, sidecars, contingent capital structures and other alternative capital products, according to the TigerRisk announcement. He also structured, priced, and executed cat derivatives, and had been with Swiss Re since 2002.
At TigerRisk, Kusche will develop next-generation insurance linked securities, as well as other insurance risk-to-capital products. He’ll report to TigerRisk president Tony Ursano.
Kusche said in prepared remarks that he hopes, in part, to develop new risk-transfer products that attract insurance risk specialists at hedge funds, large pension funds, institutional investors and other related outfits.
TigerRisk has gone after other industry bigwigs in the past. Last October, for example, it hired AIG veteran Stephen Bensinger. He oversaw American International Group’s finances in the early part of global credit crisis before departing in 2008 along with other executives.
