The Hartford Chairman and CEO Christopher Swift is taking on a primary leadership role with one of the property/casualty industry’s main lobbying groups.
Swift is slated to become chairman of the American Insurance Association’s board of directors at its March meeting. He’ll replace XL Catlin CEO Michael McGavick, who served as chairman over the past year.
Swift, in prepared remarks, said he was looking forward to working with AIA on a number of big issues, including “the pace of technological change, cybersecurity risk and the changing regulatory environment, each of which has important consequences for consumers, our industry and the regulatory community.”
Swift, The Hartford CEO since June 2014, also serves on the board of the Insurance Information Institute. As well, he’s a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Villanova School of Business, the Business Council, The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Financial Services Roundtable and the International Insurance Society.
