RenaissanceRe is losing a longtime board member and gaining a new one. QBE North America hired a veteran Zurich exec as its new chief claims officer. Everest Re named its latest deputy chief underwriting officer. A new executive at Hamilton Re will help diversify its portfolio.

Veteran insurance executive Carol Sanders has been nominated to join the board of directors at RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd.
Sanders was most recently executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Sentry Insurance, a property/casualty mutual insurance carrier with more than $14 billion in assets and a $4.2 billion policyholder surplus. She also held various executive positions with Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co.
Sanders will replace veteran board member Nicholas Trivisonno, who will retire as director. Sanders’ nomination and Trivisonno’s retirement will be addressed as part of RenaissanceRe’s annual shareholder meeting in May 2016.

A veteran Zurich executive joined QBE North America as its new chief claims officer.
In his new role, Daniel Franzetti will serve on the executive management board and lead QBE North America’s claims function. He’ll be based in New York City and report to QBE North America CEO Dave Duclos.
Before QBE, Franzetti was chief claims officer for Zurich Australia Insurance Ltd. He also previously led Zurich’s Claims Technical Services in North America as senior vice president and was once head of global claims vendor management for Zurich’s global general insurance practice.

Christopher Downey is Everest Re Group’s new deputy chief underwriting officer.
Downey comes to Everest Re from Montpelier Reinsurance Ltd., where he served as senior vice president and head of their Global Casualty & Specialty Treaty unit. As well, he was a member of the reinsurer’s executive committee and its underwriting leadership team.
Before signing on with Montpelier in 2012, Downey served as senior vice president with Alterra Bermuda Ltd. (formerly Max Bermuda Ltd.).

Gavin Davis joined Hamilton Re as senior vice president, head of property insurance, Bermuda.
The reinsurance arm of Hamilton Insurance Group said that Davis will be a key executive involved in leading the ongoing diversification of Hamilton Re’s portfolio to include property direct and facultative insurance. He’ll report to Tim Duffin, chief operating officer, property, at Hamilton Re.
Davis most recently headed up the Direct & Facultative platform at Montpelier Reinsurance Ltd. and also served there as a vice president and underwriter. Before Montpelier Re, he managed the U.S. Direct Insurance Property portfolio at AXIS Specialty Ltd.
