Coming in at No. 2, French company AXA S.A. is the highest ranking insurer with property/casualty operations on A.M. Best’s new roundup of the top global insurers by net premiums written.
Half the insurers on the top 10 list have P/C operations, and the rest are more pure-play life/health insurers. A.M. Best published this list, which relies on net premiums written in 2014, as part of its ranking of the world’s largest insurance companies included in the Jan. 4, 2016 issue of BestWeek. BestLink Data and additional research informs the results, A.M. Best said.
Alliance SE of Germany is the next highest insurer with property/casualty operations, placing third on the list. At number 4: Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. of Italy. State Farm landed at number 7, and Munich Re placed number 9, rounding out the five P/C companies who placed in the top 10.
