Allied World brought in a new executive to help run its marine operations; Argo Group hired a head of professional lines in Bermuda; W.R. Berkley Company named a senior vice president charged with helping to grow its life sciences management liability business.

A veteran Marsh and Willis executive is joining Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, AG to help run marine operations.
Tim Cook will be vice president, regional head of Marine and be based in Hong Kong. He’ll report to Bart Grefe, senior vice president, head of marine, for Allied World Global Markets.
Cook brings with him 35 years of experience in the marine insurance industry. Before Allied World, he held senior management roles for Willis in New York and in Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was at Marsh as regional managing director for marine cargo.

Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. brought on William Wharton as head of professional lines operations in Bermuda.
He brings with him experience in Asia and Europe, as well as Bermuda and the U.S. Argo said he’ll help with its goal of global expansion.
Wharton was most recently at Catlin Insurance Singapore, where he was head of financial lines for Asia. Before Catlin, which he joined in 2013, Wharton served in executive roles at XL Insurance including chief underwriting officer, professional lines, plus.
Before XL, Wharton held various senior management positions at Marsh & McLennan, Johnson & Higgins and Chubb insurance.

Berkley Life Sciences, a W.R. Berkley Company, hired an executive who will help run its life sciences arm.
Simon Beynon will be senior vice president of management liability for Berkley Life Sciences. He’s been part of the industry for more than 20 years, and has experience in all management liability lines of insurance for commercial and financial institutions in the public and private sector.
Berkley Life Sciences President Jill Wadlund said Beynon will help Berkley “extend our capabilities in the management liability area.”
