Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty named Thomas Williams as regional practice leader for Environmental Impairment Liability North America.
The specialist corporate insurance arm of Allianz Group said that the appointment is effective immediately. He replaces Artur Lu, who was promoted to head of global Environmental Impairment Liability and will be based in New York.
Williams will be tasked with building the Environmental Impairment Liability business, in part through growing its presence in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. EIL, launched in 2014, offers coverage addressing areas including pollution legal liability, contractors’ pollution liability, and pollution excess in the construction, energy, manufacturing and real estate segments.

Beazley Group brought on a new underwriter to facilitate growth in its miscellaneous medical healthcare team.
Sarah Fiorito, a veteran of Kinsale Insurance, will focus on nutraceutical risks for Beazley. Fiorito’s hiring comes after Beazley’s April launch of NeutraGuard, a policy customized for nutraceutical manufacturers and distributors that has flexibility to cover products liability, general liability, errors and omissions, product recall expenses, employee benefits liability, cyber/privacy and hired/non-owned auto insurance.
Beazley said that its miscellaneous medical team underwrites six of the top 10 clinical research organizations and four of the largest healthcare staffing organizations in the U.S.
