Hamilton Insurance Group plans to expand into space and professional lines, and has hired two senior underwriters to lead the effort.
The expansion work will be through Hamilton Underwriting Ltd., the managing agency of Lloyd’s Syndicate 3334 and the Lloyd’s operations of Hamilton Insurance Group.
Stuart Quinlan will be head of professional lines and deputy active underwriter. Sima Adhya has been named head of space. Both will report to Hamilton Underwriting Ltd. CEO Dermot O’Donohoe, pending approval by Lloyd’s of an Active Underwriter for Syndicate 3334.
Quinlan comes to Hamilton from Barbican Syndicate 1955. Previously, he was also chief operating officer, Europe, for professional lines at Zurich plc., and held leadership roles at Novae Group and Royal &Sun Alliance.
Before Hamilton Underwriting, Adhya was head of space at Starstone (formerly Torus), and previously served as head of space at Sciemus, a data analytics and research-based underwriter. She also has experience working at QinetiQ, the former U.K. defense and research agency, and also worked with the European Space Agency in areas including asteroid deflection techniques.
