Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance hired veteran executives from Zurich, ACE, CNA and Catlin to help beef up its U.S. underwriting capabilities and continue its expansion.
“With this infusion … BHSI will be expanding into numerous executive & professional lines and is poised to grow in our targeted areas,” Dan Fortin, senior vice president, head of executive & professional lines at BHSI, said in prepared remarks.
Here are the new hires:
- Danielle Librizzi, as senior vice president, head of professional liability. She joins BSHI from CNA Financial Corp. where she served in various executive roles overseeing management liability, financial institutions and miscellaneous professional liability and cyber claims handling. Previous experience also includes stints at AIG and Gulf Insurance Group. In her new role, she’ll oversee BHSI”s U.S. professional liability and cyber insurance underwriting.
- Will Fahey, as senior vice president, head of commercial executive lines. Before BHSI, Fahey was senior vice president at Zurich North America. He also has served in executive roles at Arch Insurance Group and Hartford Financial Products, and began his career as an AIG underwriter. In his new role, he’ll handle BHSI’s expansion in the U.S. commercial executive lines market.
- Joe Schrancz, as vice president, head of architects & engineers (A&E) professional liability. Schrancz served as assistant director, design professional at Catlin Insurance (now XL Catlin) before coming to BHSI. Previously, he also served in various leadership roles at AIG. In his new position, he’ll spearhead BHSI’s entrance into A&E professional liability and head U.S. underwriting of this product line.
- Maura Verrone, as vice president, head of private & not for profit, executive & professional lines. Verrone was national underwriting manager for professional risk at ACE Commercial Risk Services before joining BHSI. Before ACE, she developed executive experience at Aon Financial Services Group and Marsh FINPRO. She’ll be tasked with leading BHSI’s move into middle market executive lines, focusing on private company and not-for-profit risks in the U.S.
