Zurich appointed one of its veteran executives to a major leadership role in its North American operations.
Paul Horgan is now CEO of the property/casualty insurer and reinsurer’s Global Corporate in North America (GCiNA) division. He replaces Daniel Riordan, who Zurich said left to pursue other opportunities.
Horgan was most recently head of group reinsurance, a position he has had since 2012. He joined Zurich in 2007 as chief underwriting officer for Global Corporate in North America. Horgan also has prior executive experience from various positions he held at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
In his new job, Horgan is responsible for the direction, management and performance of Global Corporate in North America, a major business area within Zurich North America that recorded gross written premiums and policy fees of $3.7 billion in 2014. He’ll also have responsibilities within Global Corporate and play a role in the success in General Insurance business goals.
Horgan will be based in New York City and report to Thomas Huerlimann, CEO of Global Corporate.
