CNA hired on a Chubb executive as its new senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for CNA Commercial.
Julie Stephenson’s new job becomes effective on Sept. 1.
Stephenson has held a number of executive roles at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Most recently, Stephenson was senior vice president and global liability manager at Chubb, where she provided strategic direction for a $1.3 billion global portfolio of General Liability, Errors & Omissions and Environmental Business.
Stephenson replaces John Beckman, who will become senior vice president and chief transformation officer for CNA Commercial. In this new role, Beckman will lead large, transformative products and “thought leadership” designed to help CNA Commercial reach its long-term goals.

Hallmark Financial Services is bringing in a veteran industry executive to lead its new specialty property arm.
The property/casualty insurance company holding group said it has hired Gerald Dupre Jr. to run its fledgling Hallmark Specialty Property operating unit, at which he’ll be president. Most recently, Dupre was senior vice president of Americas/ Property and General Property Global Property Practice Leader for Torus Insurance Company. He also has previous leadership and management experience from Axis Insurance Company, Allianz, Fireman’s Fund, Home Insurance and The St. Paul Companies.
Overall, Dupre has racked up more than 38 years in the property insurance business.
Hallmark Specialty Property will initially focus on excess and surplus commercial property insurance products, distributed through designated wholesale brokers. The unit will handle shared and layered property programs.

Munich Re’s American arm has appointed two executives to new leadership positions.
John Vasturia is now president of Munich Re America’s Specialty Markets, and a member of the carrier’s U.S. P/C Executive Board. Previously, Vasturia was head of new strategic markets, and helped establish an innovation practice and risk incubator for Munich Re’s U.S. P/C Operations. Before that, he was president of regional clients underwriting at Munich Re America. He’s been with the company since 1989.
Jill Beggs will replace Vasturia as head of new strategic markets. Her responsibilities will include Munich Re America’s innovation practice, corporate communications and the U.S. P/C Cross-Platform team. Before this, Beggs was senior vice president and head of specialty lines underwriting for Munich Re America. Beggs joined Munich Re in 2002.

Marsh hired David Marino to lead its U.S. construction practice.
Marino will be based in New York. He’ll be tasked with making sure Marsh delivers risk advisory and transactional services to construction industry clients.
Before Marsh, Marino was at Aon, where he served as regional managing director of the greater New York area. He’s also a veteran of Allied North America, where he led the company’s New York operations.

Liberty Mutual Insurance named Nikki Lankford its new regional vice president for the carrier’s Metro New York Region, within its Business Insurance Operation.
Lankford, a Liberty Mutual veteran since 2004, was most recently senior underwriting manager for the New York City office. In her new job, she’ll be based in New York City and be responsible for the profitable growth of small to mid-market business both there, and on Long Island.
Lankford will work with Liberty Mutual’s appointed independent agents and brokers to manage local underwriting operations and territory managers who offer a single point of access to a broad product line for businesses.
