Hiscox has named a new chief underwriting officer for its fast-growing U.S. unit.
Nicole Goodwin will be based in Hiscox USA’s New York City office. She replaces Gary Head, who will head to London to serve in the new role of head of alternative distribution for the Hiscox Group.
Goodwin has been with Hiscox since 2004, initially as division counsel for its Technology Media & Telecoms Division. Most recently, she served as head of U.S. Claims, where she drove the strategic direction and performance for claims service.
Before joining Hiscox, a Bermuda based global specialist insurer, Nicole was a practicing attorney in San Francisco focused on emerging technology, privacy and IP-related risk analysis. She also counseled for a number of domestic and Lloyd’s of London-based specialty insurers, with Hiscox among them. Hiscox is also listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In her new role at Hiscox, Goodwin will lead Hiscox USA’s growth and expansion in areas including E&O, GL, cyber & data security, media liability, entertainment production risks, D&O and management liability, crime, kidnap & ransom, terrorism and commercial property products.
Hiscox USA focuses on specialty coverage for small and middle-market businesses with less than $1 billion in annual revenue.
