Erie Insurance, Ameriprise and The Hartford earned the highest customer satisfaction rankings for auto insurance sales, according to the J.D. Power 2015 Insurance Shopping Study.

Based on a 1,000-point scale, Erie Insurance scores the best at 870, with Ameriprise and The Hartford each landing an 869. (See below for full list. Top 10 roundup follows.)

CSAA Insurance Group comes in next, with an 861. Amica Mutual and Liberty Mutual follow, scoring an 850 and 848, respectively.

Automobile Club Group grabs the number 7 slot with 846 points.

Auto Club of Southern California Insurance Group and Travelers are next on the list, with each getting a score of 838.

GEICO rounds out the top 10 with 836.

USAA, which provides insurance only to U.S. military personnel and their families, was not included in the formal ranking, but it did achieve the highest overall score – 896.

J.D. Power bases its scoring on responses from more than 15,600 shoppers who asked for an auto insurance price quote in the last 9 months from at least one competitive insurer. Numbers are based on surveys in May, July and October 2014, and also January 2015. Responses include more than 50,000 unique customer evaluations of insurers.
