Both Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and Ironshore International have filled executive positions in Singapore, with a mandate of adding new customers in the Asia/Pacific region.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty appointed two executives to its leadership and underwriting team in Asia, which is based in Singapore. Malin Fredriksson will be Asia regional head of first party lines, and Kiran Prakash will serve as Asia regional head of engineering and construction.
Malin most recently worked at RSA in various executive positions, including underwriting and reinsurance director for Asia and chief underwriting officer, specialty, for Asia. She has also held a number of property underwriting positions for insurers in New York, mainland China, Sweden and London.
Kiran previously was at Swiss Reinsurance Company where he was senior construction, machinery breakdown and power/utilities underwriter in Asia. He also has related experience from Asia Capital Reinsurance and SmartBridges.
Ironshore International, meanwhile, named Hui Yun Boo as managing director Asia/Pacific and principal officer in Singapore. As of March 2, Boo will be tasked with overseeing business growth and product development of Ironshore specialty lines in the Asia/Pacific region. Most recently, she was CFO, Asia Pacific for Catlin Singapore Pte. Ltd.
For Ironshore, Boo’s mission will encompass Ironshore offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. She’ll report to Ironshore International CEO Mark Wheeler. Boo is a 20-year insurance industry veteran who has also held management/executive positions at QBE Insurance International Pte. Ltd., and ING General Insurance International N.V. in Singapore.
