A veteran executive who once ran AIG and helped guide Willis Group Holdings, Plc. is joining the board of directors for a subsidiary of The Navigators Group, an international specialty insurance holding company.
Specifically, Martin J. Sullivan has been elected to the board at Navigators Underwriting Agency Ltd., the company’s Lloyd’s of London managing agency subsidiary. He’ll become non-executive chairman in the 2015 first quarter, pending regulatory approval. At that time, Sullivan will replace Alex Foster, who is stepping down from the slot he has held since 2010. Foster will remain a board member.
Sullivan brings plenty of credentials to the job. He has been president and CEO of American International Group, and worked at the company for 37 years. From there, he became deputy chairman of Willis Group Holdings Plc. He is also a past president of British American Business Inc. and has been an Officer of the Order of the British Empire since 2007.
The Navigators Group is a global operation with offices in the United States, the United Kingdom and also has a presence in China and Brazil. Last Month, it announced a European expansion, via its subsidiary Navigators Underwriting Ltd.
