Rival insurance brokers Aon plc and Marsh & McClennan Cos. both recently filled major executive-level positions.
Over at Aon, Andy Weitz becomes the new senior vice president of global marketing and communications as of Oct. 1. His tasks will include defining Aon’s content marketing strategy and integrating all of the company’s various divisions into product marketing. He’ll report to Phil Clement, Aon’s global chief marketing and communications officer, and also serve on Aon’s executive leadership team.
Weitz is coming to Aon with experience as an outside consultant. He most recently served as president and CEO of the U.S. region for Hill + Knowlton Strategy, a global company that advises corporations, nonprofits and associations, including Aon.
Meanwhile, Marsh & McClennan said that Mark McGivney has been hired as its next senior vice president of corporate finance, also effective Oct. 1. He’ll handle corporate development, investor relations and treasury duties, and will report to Chief Financial Officer Mike Bischoff.
Before this job, McGivney was CFO and COO since 2011 at Mercer, a global consultant leader in talent, health, retirement and investments. Prior to that, he was chief financial officer at Marsh, a Marsh & McClennan division that handles insurance brokering and risk management. He’s also a veteran of The Hanover Insurance Group.
Marsh & McClennan is a global company that offers advice in areas of risk, strategy and human capital. Aon provides risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, plus human resources and outsourcing services.
