Web-based consumer insurance agent portal TrustedChoice.com, created through an alliance of companies, agents and a trade association, now operates in 46 states and has 44 carriers or their affiliates participating.

TrustedChoice.com is offered through Consumer Agent Portal (CAP), which recently announced the milestone. There are eight national and regional carriers that invest in CAP or provide personal lines insurance pricing details through TrustedChoice.com: Travelers Insurance, Westfield Insurance, Selective, Safeco Insurance, Motorists Mutual Insurance Co., The Main Street America Group, Central Insurance Group and State Auto.

Consumers use the website to gain information including comparative real-time quotes for personal auto and homeowners insurance and to find a local independent insurance agent.

“The swell in participation from property/casualty carriers is a vote of confidence—in the independent agency system at large and the many agencies aligned with TrustedChoice.com,” Charles “Chip” Bacciocco, CEO of CAP/TrustedChoice.com, said in a statement.

Worth noting, the 44 carriers and affiliates now with TrustedChoice.com are doing so either as investors, participating carriers providing insurance quotes and/or as providers of marketing support for affiliated independent agents, according to the announcement (which doesn’t name all of the carriers/affiliates).

Among other milestones: TrustedChoice.com produced more than 190,000 site visits in July. The website is also on pace to draw in more than 1.5 million visits in 2014.

How did the Consumer Agent Portal/TrustedChoice.com launch? It’s based on an alliance that includes the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Trusted Choice state associations and major insurance carriers.
