The U.S. is in the midst of a contentious campaign season, as former President Donald Trump faces off against Vice President Kamala Harris. Each side has named the other a genuine “threat” to democracy, and people have taken to social media to spread misinformation, deepfakes and a lot of hateful rhetoric.

And it isn’t just the U.S. More than two billion voters in 50 countries—roughly half the world’s population—will be voting in 2024.
